Many thanks to the Community Media Center of Carroll County for the opportunity to record a candidate profile. Their work is a great service to the community, and helps inform citizens of their choices in the upcoming elections. My profile is below:
The most important responsibility of a school board is to work with their communities to keep the school system strong, and make improvements based on best practices and the changing needs and climate of the system. In the best of times, the citizens of Carroll County need someone who will advocate for our students, support our incredible educators, and partner with families and community organizations to listen to your needs and make sound decisions on your behalf.
As we recover from a global pandemic, a candidate who understands the complexities of health-related policy, values diversity and inclusion, possesses real classroom experience, and is committed to providing opportunities for all students to be successful, is more important than ever.
I know you have many choices in this upcoming election. It will be important for all voters to get to know the Board of Education candidates and their stances. Voting is the way you can voice your concerns and connect them - and the candidates you feel best suited to solve the issues that are important to you - with your choices on the ballot.
On Monday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m., the Liberty High School PTO , Oklahoma Road Middle School PTA, and the Carroll Media Center will co-sponsor the South Carroll Board of Education Candidate Forum at Liberty High School. Be sure to send candidate questions in advance to southcarrollforum@gmail.com. All community members are welcome to attend and the event will be live-streamed and recorded by the Carroll Media Center.
